Our 'Tithe to 2009' Trails help to demonstrate how local built and ecological environments across Leeds have evolved since the tithe maps were drawn. Designed to contrast 19th-century surroundings with today’s communities and, through local memories, reveal what has changed in each area over time, the walks are an excellent way to find out about your local heritage or discover a new part of the city. There is a trail to suit everyone, whether you require wheelchair or buggy access, prefer a longer or shorter walk, or are on horseback, and they are available to download and print below.
The Ecology (WYE), Archives (WYAS) and Archaeological Advisory (WYAAS) departments of West Yorkshire Joint Services have enjoyed collaborating with all the local groups who helped us to compile these trails. We hope you enjoy walking them just as much. It is hoped that the 'Tithe to 2009' Trails will be a lasting legacy for the Tracks in Time project and everyone who has supported it.
